Shipping & Returns Shipping & Returns
Please allow four [4] to six [6] week for you items to ship.

Yes, we are aware that many of you who have ordered in the past have received your products in much less time however we ask that you wait for such a term because many items are manufactured in Japan or elsewhere and may take time to arrive in our offices.

Please also note that NO items may be returned opened unless there is an obvious defect in workman or craftsmanship. As an example, washing a Karate do Gi and it shrank is not reason for return. It is reason to shrink and what they naturally do. An opened DVD with scratches is obviousely not new and there is nothing we can do about it because we do not have the same lifetime return policy as Costco has in the USA.

Please read in detail the following memo we are sending to all link back providers regarding orders from Google.
Google checkout: unstated terms, hijacked funds, harassment of customers, not happy with them…

Dear affiliated stores and websites, please make all Budo Mall purchases through PayPal and read the memo below for an explanation and accept your refund.

Do not comment in site forums, please comment at the bottom of this memo where and when required.

We are never using Google checkout ever again. To this day their code is not yet clean and now we have also learned it was not fully secure! We signed up with them end of February. A customer needed to pay us $464 and had issues with their new Paypal account in the South East, so we signed up for a Google checkout account so she can pay us online. We go thru a two day long bank account verification process, where we give our routing number, account number, and they do a nominal deposit into our account to verify its existence. All of our profile and bank account info is verified as valid. The person owing us the money pays $200, and we get it 2 days later via a payout from Google checkouts [of course billions are processed with Google every day and guess who keeps the interest…]. The Google checkout user interface needs some help, but at least we did not have to deal with a long drawn out story of how the customer had no way of paying online.

We received that payout on March 4th. On March 8th, the person gives us the rest of the money, another $264. We send her an invoice thru Google checkout, she pays, and the money is taken out of her account. Based on how long it took last time, we know we will most likely have the money deposited into our account on the 10th.

On the 10th, we log onto the account and find this email from Google checkout:

Hello Budo Mall,

ID: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Account Creation Date: February 26, 2008
Merchant ID: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Google Checkout was unable to verify the account information you provided during the signup process. Although you may still accept and charge new orders at this time, you must provide some additional information before you can receive any future payouts. Please note that this account verification process is not related to the bank verification you completed during sign up.

Please photocopy or scan all of the following documents and send them to us within five business days:

1. The front of the credit or debit card you used to sign up. For security purposes, please conceal the first 12 digits of your card number, leaving only the last 4 digits visible. (Note: If you are sending in a copy of an American Express card, please also conceal the 4-digit credit card verification number printed on the front. It generally appears to the right of the card number).
2. The front of your drivers license. Please ensure it is a clear and legible copy.
3. Proof of address for each address entered in your Google Checkout merchant account. Acceptable forms of proof of address include the following:
* Drivers license with matching address
* Bank statement
* Credit card bill (please black out the first 12 digits of your card number)
* Water, phone or other utility bill
* Business license
4. The original supplier invoices/receipts for your previous order(s). (Please note, invoices must contain order details and your suppliers phone number.)
5. To help us better understand your business, information on the services or items you are providing, the nature of your business, and how you acquire your customers.

Write your Merchant ID number at the top of all these documents. To find your Merchant ID, sign in to Google Checkout and click the Settings tab. Your Merchant ID will appear under the Private contact information section. Submit your documents to Google within five business days in either of the following ways:

* Fax your copies to 650 887 1640, Attn: Google Account Verification.
* Email your copies as attachments to checkout-account-verification@google.com.

Please ensure that the copy of the drivers license or passport you send us is clear and legible. To avoid delays, we suggest that you adjust your fax or scanners resolution settings. You may also print a test page first to ensure the copy you send us is clear.

Failure to send any of the information listed above may result in a delay in payouts. We will contact you by email once we have received and verified your information.

Sincerely,

Mike
The Google Checkout Team

Seriously, read that email and tell us if you are not thinking what we were thinking: you have to be F$@#!#G with us! Now, if, in the signup process, they had clearly stated this was going to be a normal part of what we would be required using Google checkout, we NEVER would have used Google checkout. We would have thanked them for their honesty but said: no thank you. In the entire signup process they described it as a very simple procedure, and all we ever needed to do was do that one-time bank account verification, then we were good to go.

So we email them reminding them;

· That they took money from a customer and did it on our behalf.
· Are holding that money hostage.
· Refused us the opportunity to refund the money directly to the customer.
· Basically, saying we need to go thru an involved process.
· In which we drag out documents from storage.
· Provide FIVE [5] completely different forms of identification or records.
· Harass old housemates to get some of them.
· Fax them [can not even remember the last time we have “seen” a fax machine, let alone “used” one] …. you have got to be kidding.

We get a reply back:

Hello Budo Mall,

We understand you have questions about our verification process.

Our specialists will occasionally request that you verify the information you have provided in your merchant account. Once you have completed the verification process, you will have confirmed your financial identity and increased the security of Google Checkout for everyone.

Rest assured that Google is committed to preserving the security of your information, which will never be shared except under the very limited circumstances described in our Privacy Policy at https://checkout.google.com/files/privacy.html.

We take the following measures to protect you:

- Your account information is stored on our secure servers.
- Your information is encrypted during transmission with industry-standard SSL (secure socket layer) technology.

In addition, phone support is not available for Google Checkout. Please respond to this email with any further questions and we will be happy to further assist you.

Sincerely,

Steve
the Google Checkout Team

They did not respond to our question about why, if this verification process was necessary to receive money that was rightfully mine, why was not it mentioned in the signup process?

No comment whatsoever about why a company holding peoples money hostage refuses to have a customer service phone number.

No explanation as to why… We mean, this persons email did not say anything. It basically just said we have your money; we refuse to explain, deal with it. Here Monkey, jump thru these hoops.

We just lost a lot of respect for Google, and once this mess is taken care of, we are definitely not using this service of theirs again, and I am certainly going to look closely at others of theirs now. We will not have a company treat us like this, especially when they are holding our money hostage and refuse to apologize or explain.

In the meanwhile, please accept our apologies and your refund and make your purchase again with PayPal.

Sincerely,

Budo Mall
